CARBONDALE – Two Carbondale residents are facing gun charges as a result of an ongoing investigation into illegal firearms in Carbondale.

According to Carbondale Police, police detectives recently applied for and received arrest warrants for 19-year-old Jakobi N. Shered and 20-year-old Chonta T. Stidhum, both of Carbondale, for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for a property associated with the men in the 300 block of South Oakland Avenue. During the execution of the search warrant Friday, officers and detectives located and arrested Shered and Stidhum on the warrants. They also recovered firearms from the home. Shered and Stidhum were lodged in the Jackson County Jail on the arrest warrants.

Carbondale Police say the investigation is active and ongoing.
