METROPOLIS – The following information was released by the Metropolis Police Department on Monday, May 1, 2023.

April 24, 2023
Metropolis Police were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Hospital Drive, Upon arrival, officers were advised by the victim that Tayler A. Stewart, 32, of Metropolis had woke her up demanding that she unlock her phone. During the argument, Stewart put a pillow and blanket over her face making it difficult for her to breath. She fought with Stewart and was able to get away. Stewart was arrested and charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

April 25, 2023
Metropolis officers were called to the Spence Apartments for a trespassing complaint. The caller advised that Craig L. Montgomery, 32, of Elizabethtown, KY was on the property. Officers were aware that Montgomery has been trespassed from all properties belonging to the Massac County Housing Authority. Upon arrival, officers observed Montgomery looking out a window of one of the apartments. Montgomery was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass to State Supported property. Montgomery was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

April 26, 2023
Nathaniel R. Anderson, 36, of Metropolis was arrested in the 1900 block of Speckman. Anderson was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Criminal Damage to Property. Anderson was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
