CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man was recently arrested in connection with a shooting that happened during the early morning hours of April 23 in the 600 block of East Park Street in Carbondale.
According to Carbondale Police, officers arrested 31-year-old Kyle M. Day of Carrier Mills on April 23 for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The investigation continued and detectives eventually identified the suspect who fired the shots as 21-year-old Jaiir E. Crim of Carbondale.
With the assistance of the Jackson County States Attorney’s Office, detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Crim for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon.
Detectives located and arrested Crim on the warrant last Tuesday. Crim was lodged in the Jackson County Jail.
Around 3:40 a.m. on April 23, officers responded to the 600 block of East Park Street in reference to a report of shots fired. As officers arrived, several vehicles were leaving the area and an unknown male was seen hiding a backpack under a car before he entered a home.
Officers recovered the backpack and found it contained a firearm. Officers re-located the suspect and he was identified as Day who was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and lodged in the Jackson County Jail.
Carbondale Police say the investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing.
