WEST FRANKFORT – Bad weather was a factor in a single-vehicle crash on I-57 in Franklin County Saturday night.
According to Illinois State Police, troopers responded to the scene of the crash on southbound I-57 at milepost 63 in West Frankfort at 6:30 p.m.
Preliminary information indicates that a vehicle was in the middle lane, and due to heavy rainfall, hydroplaned and left the road to the left and struck the raised concrete median barrier. After striking the barrier, the vehicle came to rest sideways in the middle lane of I-57.
A passing motorist saw the vehicle sideways in the roadway and stopped to help. The passing motorist was able to push the vehicle off the roadway onto the shoulder.
No injuries were reported.
