DU QUOIN – A 37-year-old Du Quoin man was killed after being struck by an Amtrak train early Monday morning in Du Quoin.
Du Quoin Police say they got a report around 1:30 a.m. from Canadian National Railroad Police about the man being hit at the railroad crossing located on East Main and Oak streets.
Police say the train was heading south when it hit the man trying to cross the tracks going west on Main Street.
Police and EMS responded to the scene. The Perry County Coroner’s Office was also called to the scene.
The victim’s name was not released.
