JOHNSTON CITY/CAMBRIA – Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies recently arrested and cited Jonathan L. Reed after conducting surveillance of a suspected drug house on Prosperity Road south of Johnston City where they saw a vehicle leave the home.
According to the sheriff’s office, Reed was cited on a felony charge for Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, misdemeanor charges for Driving while License Revoked and Speeding, Failure to Signal when Required, and Improper Lane Usage. Additional charges are pending. Reed was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
Around 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, a patrol unit attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled leaving the roadway which temporarily limited its speed of travel allowing deputies to approach the vehicle and observe the driver, who was Reed. Deputies knew Reed through prior law enforcement contact. The vehicle regained traction, returned to the roadway, and fled. Deputies did not continue to pursue Reed due to public safety and a positive identification of the driver.
Then around 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, deputies continuing to search for Reed canvassed the area of 13290 Cruse Road near Cambria and discovered the suspect vehicle hidden in the backyard behind vegetation.
Deputies surrounded the trailer and attempted to contact Reed. They determined that Reed had hidden the car for several days by driving it into heavy brush/tree line behind the trailer. It was discovered that the vehicle was later moved to the back yard.
After several hours, deputies were able to confirm that Reed was in the trailer, where he refused to exit, and was threatening to harm himself.
Around 9:45 p.m. deputies executed a search warrant on the trailer. Reed was located in the bedroom of the trailer hiding under a mattress. He was then cited and taken to jail.
