CARBONDALE – A woman was arrested in connection with an early Friday morning shooting in Carbondale.
Carbondale Police say officers heard six gunshots from the area of the 400 block of East Hester Street around 3:40 a.m. and responded.
Police learned that a dark colored Chevy Cruze and a dark colored Dodge Challenger left the area at a high rate of speed and had been involved in the shooting.
During the investigation, officers found and stopped both vehicles. Quearii Mathis-Jones was in one of the vehicles and her gun was found inside. Police say she fired several shots in the air during a disturbance. Mathis-Jones was also wanted on a Jackson County arrest warrant for Battery.
Mathis-Jones was arrested for the warrant and for Reckless Discharge of a Firearm. She was booked into the Jackson County Jail pending a detention hearing.
No one was injured in the in the incident.
