ANNA – The Illinois Veterans’ Home at Anna has postponed the Volunteer Fair scheduled for Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Home has experienced a rise in COVID-19 cases over the past few weeks. As of Monday, five residents and three staff are COVID-19 positive and are experiencing mild symptoms. While the veterans and staff recover, the Home has implemented infection control guidelines for long-term care facilities set by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to limit the spread of COVID-19. The guidelines recommend social distancing, masking in direct care areas, and intensified cleaning and disinfection protocols. Amplified testing during the outbreak has also been established for residents and staff.

The Illinois Veterans’ Home at Anna relies on the support of volunteers to offer residents programs, events, and activities that contribute to their well-being and quality of life. The volunteer fair will be rescheduled when the Home is no longer in outbreak (two or more cases) status and the Home can safely welcome visitors.
