MURPHYSBORO – The Jackson County Drug Court is pleased to announce its third graduation ceremony honoring two Drug Court participants.

The event will take place at the Jackson County Courthouse in Murphysboro Thursday at 2 p.m. following the regularly scheduled Drug Court hearing.

The graduation follows two years of the participants’ compliance with the tiered, rigorous program.

The completion of drug court is no small task as the program blends intensive treatment and therapy while working to change the social environments that have contributed to a pattern of addiction and criminality.

Established in January of 2022, the Jackson County Drug Court is a collaborative effort between the
criminal justice system and treatment providers to reduce recidivism and break the cycle of substance abuse.

Drug Courts trust an evidence-based approach and work in collaboration with community providers for substance abuse, mental health, and other ancillary treatment and services.

Studies have shown that Drug Courts significantly reduce crime by an average of 8 to 26 percentage points, and in some cases by as much as 35 percent, compared to traditional case dispositions.

All are welcome to observe and join the Jackson County Drug Court team in celebrating this incredible achievement by our graduates. Refreshments to follow.
