WEST FRANKFORT – James “Jim” Revuell Harrawood, a devoted man of God and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home on Easter morning, April 20, 2025, at the age of 85. He was surrounded by his family and friends as Heaven rejoiced in his arrival.
Jim was born in the family home in Johnston City, TN, on March 11, 1940, to Ruth and Kenneth Harrawood. As the son of a preacher, Jim lived in several different locations throughout Tennessee, Illinois, and Michigan while growing up. He graduated from high school in Cahokia, IL, in 1958.
Jim was known, first and foremost, for his love of the Lord. He served faithfully for decades at Faith Assembly Fellowship, where he taught Sunday School, was on the Board for over 40 years, and greeted congregants every Sunday morning for over 30 years. He was a devout family man who enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, picnics, and photographing landscapes, sunsets, and wildlife.
Jim was a man of integrity who worked hard to earn an honest living. For over 25 years, he worked in the grocery business, where he rose to the position of General Manager for a small chain of grocery stores. In 1984, he began a 30-year career in the restaurant business, where he served as the Office Administrator of J&M McDonald’s.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary Ann; his four children, Dana Coloma of Hemet, CA, Christine (Jeff) Baker of Du Quoin, IL, Ken (Erin) Harrawood of Carlsbad, NM, and John Harrawood of West Frankfort, IL; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday morning, April 26, 2025, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., at Faith Assembly Fellowship in West Frankfort, IL. Services, officiated by Reverend Jeff Baker and Pastor Gary Brown, will be held at 12 p.m. at the church. Graveside services will follow at the Denning Cemetery on Orient Road in West Frankfort, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Teen Challenge through Faith Assembly Fellowship.
The Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort is in charge of arrangements.
