SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Terri Bryant of Murphysboro is sponsoring legislation allowing the creation of a public/private partnership to operate the World Shooting and Recreation Complex in Sparta.

Under House Bill 3456, the Director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources can enter into a public-private agreement to develop, finance, lease, manage, and operate the facility.

The bill was originally introduced by State Representative David Friess.

The Senate voted 56 to 0 Wednesday on the measure.

The legislation now heads back to the House for final legislative action.
