SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Terri Bryant was part of a capitol press conference Wednesday calling attention to the recent politicization of recent federal gun law rulings by Governor JB Pritzker and Attorney General Kwame Raoul.

Bryant, joined by State Senators Jason Plummer and Neil Anderson, are preparing legislation to protect Illinois gun purchasers who bought firearms during a six-day period between contradictory federal court rulings over the state’s semi-auto gun ban/registration law enacted in January of this year.

Bryant says she and a lot of people are avid hunters in her district and it’s really a part of their way of life. She says this situation has created and presents a “real world problem.” She gave some hypothetical examples.

Bryant says she personally contacted representatives from the Illinois State Police and a representative from the Attorney General’s office, and that in between time, to ask for guidance for the FFL’s (Federal Firearm Licenses) and ask for guidance for the people that live in her district. Bryant says she got “zero, crickets” basically saying they were waiting for the court to rule again. She says that’s “unacceptable.”
