CARMI – The Carmi Chamber of Commerce’s 31st Annual Golf Scramble was played on August 19, 2023, at the Carmi Country Club.

Proceeds from this annual scramble benefit the Chamber’s scholarship program, member grant program, business startup grants, the White County CEO program and more.

Morning and afternoon teams were treated to sunny skies, dotted with the occasional cloud throughout the day, and warm temperatures. Whether the teams played in the morning or afternoon, each golfer received a goodie bag provided by Platinum Sponsors – First Bank and Fairfield Memorial Hospital/Horizon Healthcare Carmi Clinic, along with additional goodies provided by Carmi Pro Rehab and Banterra Bank and were also provided with lunch, prepared by Huck’s Market Catering.

After score cards were turned in, the winners of the day were announced as follows: First Place was awarded to the Shawn Wheeler team, second place for the second year in a row went to the team of Kevin Wolff, Mark Stendeback, Drew Riley, and Bennett Richter, and Third Place to the team of Brad Taylor. And, while no one was lucky enough to win the $10,000 Hole-in-One prize, there were other contest winners. The Closest to the Pin prize was presented to Neal Cutchin, while Longest Putt prize went to Duck Austin. Men’s Long Drive honors went to Todd Driscoll and Women’s Long Drive to Amy Whitley.

A special “Thank You” to this year’s sponsors. A list of the sponsors can be found at cityofcarmi.org under Chamber events.

“The chamber is very appreciative of the support we receive from our sponsors and players. We would not be able to invest in the community through our scholarship and grant programs without their continued support.” stated Kelly Northcott of the Carmi Chamber of Commerce.
